The Place

Yesterday, we hung out with Miki at a place called The Place. We had a lot of fun. First we went to this Russian area and tried to look for a winter coat for Michelle but we were unsuccessful. Then we walked to this shopping center called The Place. It was full of foreigners and many foreign shops. Ally found a shop on the street that was full of imported foods. Ally began to jump out of hers and smile so big. Why you may ask? Well, she found some food she couldn't resist from buying. She found muffin mix, cake mix, confectioners sugar, and, best of all, brownie mix! We went to dinner at an authentic Hong Kong food restaurant and the food was divine. Michelle got sweet and sour pork and I got beef and mushrooms. We couldn't get enough of it. After dinner, we walked around the shops for a little and then headed back outside. There was a this sky screen short movie show that was really cool. After the sky screen show, we looked for a movie theater but once we got there only two English movies were available and we didn't want to see either one or pay $20 for a 3D movie. Instead we headed back towards the subway but on the way stopped at some small stores. At the end of the night we were all exhausted and still had a hour long subway ride home but all in all we had a great time.

WCBA Basketball Game

We have a 6 day break due to the APEC organization having a meeting in Beijing. We were planning to go somewhere like Chengdu to see the pandas or Hong Kong but tickets are out of our price range. Instead, we decided to look up events on TheBeijinger.com for things to do. I am always put in charge of looking up activities because I can find fun things. Well, for last night, I found a basketball game to go to. It was very close and was only going to 50 yuan a person. Also, Brittney Griner was going to be playing.

We went and had a blast and actually got lucky and got into the game for free. We were trying to find the ticket stand and asked around but they just let us in and told us to sit here. The game was good and we made a new friend that volunteered there. We are planning to go again because its something interesting and inexpensive for us to do.
