Joutza and Boutza

On our way home from the Eight temples, Yanzi wanted to donate blood. We were sitting there waiting for her to get done and saw some children walking with cages. In the cages there were birds and hedgehogs. Of course, on the side of the street people were selling hedgehogs. I fell in love. We saw one grown hedgehog and two babies. Both cost about $15 and we couldn't resist or I should say I couldn't resist. Ally and I got the two babies.
I was so excited for our new pets but we bought them on a whim. One was a little more sick then the other and we were leaving in a week to go on vacation. We nursed them and then handed them over to a friend to take care of. It all turned out good. They are both healthy and the one who was small and sick is now fat and feisty. We are still unsure if we will be able to take them back to the states next year but we have decided if we are unable to we will give them to one of our students as a goodbye gift.

The names of the boys are a funny story. As mentioned in earlier posts we have had a few pets. There was fishy, crikee, grosshopperee and a potato that looked like a manatee so of course we named that manateey. All ending with the same sound. We were going to the name the boys Hedgy and Hoggy but I wasn't having those names anymore. Of course, Ally was being funny and came up with Boutza and Joutza which are names of chinese dumplings. We spelled as if we were spelling them out in English but later we found out they are spelled completely wrong but was too late now they already had name tags on their homes.

While with our friend over the time we were on vacation one of our little boys decided to escape from the school. Luckily that guard at the school found Boutza in the children playgound on his way to the parking lot. Now we have problems with both of the boys escaping from their boxes. AND WE HAVE NO CLUE HOW THEY CAN GET OUT OF THE TALL BOX! Must be a chinese hedgehog thing.

We love cuddling with the boys. The other day we put them in bed with us and slept with them. Also, I like to stick them in my sweatpants pocket and walk around with them.
We just love our boys!!
