The Eight Temples

Wow, I am a little behind on post. I just have been so busy. But be prepared you are about to be bombarded with tons of posts from our vacation to Malaysia. First though, our hike to the Eight Temples with Yanzi and Kayla the weekend before we left.

It was much of a hike but it was still nice. It was a Buddhist type of place for people to go pray. People prayed by lighting these touches or candles and putting them in the ashes. I wont go into much detail about the religion because I am not well educated on the topic but it was all very interesting.

We went during the holiday so it was more crowded then normal but wasn't too bad. On the way up we stopped at this wall of bells. In China, everything is about good luck. This wall of bells was for good luck on different areas in your life. What you had to do to get good luck was throw coins at the bells and try to hit them. The different bells you could hit were wealth, having a baby, getting married, knowledge, and family. Ally, Michelle and I all tried to get some luck. Michelle and I hit the wealth bell and the baby bell. Unfortunately, Ally was unable to hit any of the bells.

Through out the walk we saw and smelled these spiral incense and we wanted to get one for the apartment. They had one that lasted a couple hours, one that lasted a day, one that lasted a week, and a huge one that lasted a entire month. We didn't get one because they were a little on the expensive side for our liking.

All in all it was a good adventure. We even saw on of our students when we were leaving.
