South Korea

We took a short three day trip to South Korea. I found a cute little hotel that was perfect. The only problem we had with hotel is our room didn't get much heat but we dealt with that. However, the trip was a little rocky. During the flight, Ally didn't not feel so well to the point of feeling as if she was going to get sick. We finally landed and found a Dunkin Donuts and you know we jumped out of our shoes for that. We had time to kill before checking into the hotel (3pm check in) so we chilled in the airport for about half an hour. We caught the bus to the hotel and then we dropped bags off and headed to the market near by. We found clothes and souvenirs and enjoyed looking around. It was freezing though. We then went home and rested for a little. That night we went to the casino because we saw in the airport a coupon for $30 worth of chips. We also got $5 worth of slots money. We didn't know how to work the machines though and got bored of that very quickly. Ally and I tried to play Roulette. We had no clue what we were doing but a guy helped us. We ended up winning one coupon worth of chips and cashed it in. I am happy with $30 in my pocket. We went to get some dinner afterwards and I had delicious soft tofu soup. It was a little spicy but a good kinda spicy.

Dinner was not so good for Michelle. She began to feel very sick and ended up getting sick by the end of the night. Even had to have the cab driver pull over. The next day Michelle decided to rest while Ally and I went to the Children's Grand Park which was free admittance. For being free, it was a beautiful and nicely put together park/zoo. Most of the animals were put away for the winter which was a little disappointing but deer and other animals were still out. We fed the deer and goats and looked at the other animals. We even went to a Peter Pan animal show. It was in Korean but Ally and I got a kick out of Guinean pigs, cats, and monkeys with masks on running across the stage. We also couldn't get over the fact that the spider monkey wouldn't come down from the ship the entire show.

That night we went to Korean hot pot and sat on the floor for dinner. It was also very good but the waitress had to everything for us because we just had no clue.

Korea was very nice. Much cleaner, and a better vibe than Beijing. There was always seats on the subway!! That's rare here in Beijing. Other than Ally and Michelle getting sick, the trip was a success and a nice break from Beijing.
