Borneo, Malaysia Day 6: Borneo Reef World Adventure and Sapi Island

We woke up saw the weather was not the greatest; which of course it wasn’t when it was the day for snorkeling and beach activities. It was not raining much but it wasn’t sunny either. It turned out to be a great day though. We took a jetty to the pontoon boat. This boat was made for about 200 people and use 6 people had it all to ourselves. On the boat were different activities you could do. There was the helmet walk (came with our tour), snorkeling (came with our tour), kayaking, scuba diving, and under water tunnel to walk through. We began with the helmet walk. It was a good experience but got boring. We fed the fish which was cool because they ate it right out of your hand. The guides took pictures with an underwater camera but the pictures came out pretty awful as you can see below. After the helmet walk we were able to go snorkeling in the marked off areas. We saw a lot more than what we expected to see. We saw small barracudas, Angel Fish, Clown Fish, Puffer Fish, and many types of coral and star fish.
After our time was up with snorkeling we took another jetty to the Sapi Island. We only got an hour on the island and we could snorkel more, swim, hang out, or walk a trail. We didn’t think we would see anything different snorkeling so we decided to go on a trail and look for more monitors which were known to be spotted on the island. Right away I spotted a huge monitor sitting right by the fenced off area leading to a trail. (This whole trip I spotted out more animals than Ally did and she is supposed to be the animal expert haha). She then spotted a smaller but livelier monitor on the other side of the tree trunk. We then took a trail that headed to the other side of the hill where the beach was empty. On the way we saw a baby monitor and got really good pictures. Ally tried to catch it but we were too far away for her to sneak up on it without it being able to run away. When we got to the other side we enjoyed the rocky beach area. We collected sea glass, shells, sand, rocks, and more. We took great pictures. Time was running out though and we had to head back. We took the jetty back to the pontoon, got out things, and continued back to the city. That evening we went shopping for our souvenirs and said out last goodbyes to the wonderful country to Borneo Malaysia. Day 7 of the trip was just a traveling day and we headed back to Beijing.
