For
the holiday break we arranged to stay in Shanghai for three days. One of Ally’s
friends was nice of us to let us stay in her apartment. Shanghai was not what I
expected and I didn’t have the best time. It’s a more business like area and
there didn’t seem like much to do. We went to the Bund which we were told is
the thing to do. To me it was just a bunch of tall building that looks nice
lite up at night. There were too many people. Everything was crowded. The view
of the Bund is nice with the water but it wasn’t something I need to see again.
The next day we tried to find the
Shanghai Acrobatic Dome but no one knew about it and we ended up getting lost
and just walked for miles. We did venture to go to the Jewish Refugee Museum
and I liked that but other than that, in the end we went back home got
something to eat and went bowling and played pool. That was the best part of
the trip. I haven’t bowled since I broke my finger and started off with a score
of 126. Not too bad. Of course I only got worse from then on.
Another good part of the trip was
the Mr. Pancake House. We were told it was like a Denny’s and had real
breakfast food and I am glad we went! We got chocolate pancakes, cheese cake
pancakes, bacon, and so much more! It was so good. I just wanted to stay there
all day and eat. There was an avocado burger and I wanted to order it too but I
was too full. I was hoping we would go back for dinner but we didn’t. L I miss a good avocado!!
Basically, the trip was a failure
and not fun but now we can say we have been to Shanghai. I am sure there are
things to do but it was all too city for me and I wouldn’t not recommend it to
someone. I would definitely recommend Beijing way more than Shanghai if one was
traveling to China.
